A CHARMING HOUSE WITH 2 COTTAGES
A Swedish oasis on the dreamy island of Hemsön.
A warm welcome to Hemsön which marks the start of Höga Kusten (The Swedish High Coast) – a world heritage site. Wherever you’re coming from, your final part of the journey starts with a free scenic 5 min ferry from the mainland (you wait in your car during the cross over) after which you drive for 10 minutes before arriving on the east side of the island. Hemsön is located 1050 kms north of Copenhagen, 450 kms north of Stockholm, 80 kms north of Sundsvall and 30 kms north of Härnösand.
The main house is 80 sqm and consists of 1 bathroom with shower, 3 bedrooms and a kitchen and a living room with a large veranda (70 sqm). Grandma’s cottage is 12 sqm and includes a 140+90 cm bunk bed and a mini kitchen with running water. The guest cottage is 10 sqm and includes a 120 cm bed.
This is our family house where we grew up. We look forward to welcoming you to a hidden gem where you can enjoy the silence or embark on many adventures.

Useful Info & Nearby Attractions
The High Coast of Sweden is exceptional. It’s the world’s highest coastline and stretches along the coast of northern Sweden from Härnösand (only 30 kms south of Hemsön) to Örnsköldsvik (100 kms north) . Below we have partnered with www.hogakusten.com to highlight some of the nearby attractions and sites worth seeing while staying with us.
The ferry is operated and the timetable is set by the Swedish government and a part of the public road system. Ferrys depart regularly all year around. Remember times indicate the time of leaving mainland. The ferry leaves the island approximately 5 minutes after mainland times (it turns around immediately). Evening and night time you have to call the ferry on +46771656565 minimum 10 minutes before the scheduled mainland departure time for the ferry to depart at all (direct phone is located at the island ferry point). From mainland you don’t have to call the ferry, but need to arrive no later than 10 minutes before the departure if you don’t call beforehand.
The Hemsö Fortress (Hemsö Fästning – 5 kms away) offers good dinner alternatives but please check to ensure they are open as they are not open all year around. Another alternative is the High Coast Hotel (Hotell Höga Kusten – 25 kms away) open all year around.
The most convenient grocery shop is ICA Supermarket in Älandsbro (20 kms away). Visit their google maps page to check opening hours. No grocery shop exists on the island. If you want to do weekly shopping, we recommend ICA Maxi or Coop in Härnösand (27 kms away).
